BROTHERHOOD
I recently stumbled across a recipe for the Brotherhood, a cocktail created by Chicago bartender and Crafthouse Cocktails (@drinkcrafthouse ) co-founder Charles Joly (@charlesjoly). And it has quickly become a favorite! Marrying Irish and French spirits—hence the name—it hits oaky, fruity, cinnamon and nutmeg notes from Irish whiskey and spiced, herby-rich honey from Benedictine. Grand Marnier (sub in your fav orange liqueur—I love French curaçao) and fresh lemon juice bring citrus to the game. Please give it a go!
BROTHERHOOD
serves one
1 1/2 ounces blended Irish whiskey (I use Powers)
3/4 ounce Benedictine
3/4 ounce orange liqueur, such as Grand Marnier or French curaçao
3/4 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
Strip of lemon peel
Add all ingredients minus lemon peel to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake until well chilled and double strain into a chilled coupe glass.
Twist lemon peel over glass to express oils, rub along rim, and drop into glass.
